The Best Books that I read in 2014

Following the example of Bill Gates, here is the list of the best books I read this year:

Work

Data Science for Business, by Foster Provost. This book is hands down, the perfect book for those who want to get into the amazing world of Data Science. It starts from a very high level point, and drills down to the equations and reasoning underlying each Machine Learning Algorithm.

It is also a good book for those like us who want to find good analogies to explain highly mathematical models to those who are not so knowledgeable.

Life

  • Ready Player One, by Ernest Cline. This book is one of those books that kept me going to bed after 3 AM night after night. Based on a near, midly dystopian future, Ready Player One describes in depth how technological advances such as the Oculus Rift are paving the way to a Virtual Reality that is better than Reality itself.

Happy Holidays!
